STUDENT MINISTRY

Confirmation

At Heritage, confirmation consists of classes, a retreat, beach baptism day, and a special Sunday set aside just for them.   This year confirmation Sunday is April 28.

We will practice thinking theologically and reading the Bible like an adult. Students will articulate what the Bible is about, how Jesus saves the world, and what part they and their unique gifts play in that salvation. They'll be able to explain how a United Methodist is different than other denominations, why the world desperately needs what the United Methodist Church uniquely offers, and how to be a part of Heritage United Methodist. Most importantly, they will be shown how to enjoy a life-giving friendship with God that will enrich every day throughout their lives!

In honor of our Confirmands, we have a confirmation cross wall.  A unique cross is chosen for each confirmand and prayed for by members of Heritage UMC. After the student is confirmed,  the cross is hung on wall as a spiritual marker of the student’s faith commitment and the congregation’s commitment to be in prayer for our teenagers and their families.  Upon graduation from high school, each confirmand is given their individual cross as a testimony of their growing relationship with God and visual reminder they always have a home here at the church.
