Meet Daniel and Jodie Byrd. Daniel has recently finished his Lay Training with the Florida United Methodist Conference. He and Jodie head up our DivorceCare ministry that meets on Sunday evenings, a ministry that helps guide people through one of the most difficult times in their lives. They are also members of our caregiving team, making visits and calls to our homebound members that are unable to attend church.
We have the privilege of visiting people who are in an Assisted Living Facilities. One couple is in their 90’s and they have been married for 71 years however their relationship spans 74 years. The 3-year difference is because he was serving in the military during World War II. It is such a blessing to spend time with them because we see the vibrancy of their love as they speak to each other. Her memory ebbs and flows and yet he speaks to her with such kindness. Our time with them includes serving communion, and every visit he speaks of his appreciation for Heritage and the people who have impacted his life. We see this as an important lifeline with fellow believers who can no longer attend a Sunday service.
They have been such a blessing in helping so many people both within and outside the walls of Heritage. They are both strong Christian leaders with a passion for Christ, and we are so glad to be able to call them friends and family.Print This Post
