Changes in Church Music

Wednesday, July 31 2019 by Matt Horan

Singing has always been a part of Christian worship gatherings.  Singing the Psalms was the main source of song lyrics in the beginning, but heated conflict ensued when some upstarts had the audacity to begin writing something new, called “hymns,” like the scandalous “Be Thou My Vision,” written in 560AD.  Once this revolution of hymn singing gained traction, there was no telling what people might do–or sing–to praise God.
