It’s been three years (and three pastors) since the Administrative Council voted to partner with Spiritual Leadership Incorporated (SLI) in order to imagine, envision, and design the ministry of Heritage United Methodist for today and on into the future. On Monday night, August 26th, Heritage will get a glimpse of the finish line.
The product of the SLI Vision Team’s work has two parts that will be brought up for adoption by the Administrative Council at the October 28th meeting. One is adoption of a new ministry leadership process at Heritage in which leaders will be trained starting with nominees elected at our next Charge Conference. The other is the adoption of a new model for our statement of mission, vision, values, strategies, and outcomes designed to help us meet the needs of the community around us in 2020 and beyond.
These two elements have been the product of extensive prayer, reading, research, learning, discussion, writing, and rewriting by our Vision Team, staff, Administrative Council, and the entire congregation. They dove deep into statistical analysis of our neighborhood, books on the newest thinking in church leadership, research into the best practices used by other churches, and compilations of input from across our congregation. It has been hard work to distill these three years into one presentation!
Therefore, this coming Monday night, August 26, at 6:30pm, the Administrative Council–and anyone else who would like to join in–will get an advance screening, after which they will give some focus group feedback in small groups facilitated by Vision Team members. Monday night will give the congregation the chance to shape the content ahead of the October meeting at which adoption will be proposed, and their feedback will be used to improve and sharpen the the presentation so that it provides the information members need in a clear and coherent way
See you Monday Night!
