What is Happening in the Sanctuary
Larger Stage
More room for worship leaders, musicians and larger ensembles. The altar will fit on the platform, allowing the opening processional to continue up the stairs onto the platform without having to scatter to the left and right to go around it.
An Opened-Up Platform Area
Removing the walled-off area creates a more open and flexible worship space.
A New Cross Backdrop
The fabric surrounding the cross will be replaced and upgraded. While preserving the cross and the stained glass.
Piano & Organ Pit
A dedicated area will create better integration of these instruments into worship.
A New Organ
Replacing our broken, outdated, 40-year-old organ with a new, upgraded model.
Wheelchair and Equipment Lift
Making the platform accessible to everyone!
Freshened Sanctuary
A collection of updates and upgrades throughout our worship space.
Other Important Information:
All of these improvements will be finished by September 20.
All Sunday services will continue to meet in the sanctuary while these upgrades are underway.
These enhancements are made possible by funds raised from the sale of Building D. The process is overseen by the Building Committee nominated by your Nominations Committee and elected by your Administrative Council at their Spring meeting.
Some of the work will require the relocation of some of the plaques celebrating memorial donations throughout our history on the side of the platform. They will be relocated elsewhere in the sanctuary, with their new locations listed in the Happenings @ Heritage Newsletter once the work is completed.
