Heritage
Heritage currently supports two U.S. missionaries, Cornerstone Ministries, Inc. in Smith Lake, New Mexico, and Mountain T.O.P. in Coalmont, Tennessee. Cornerstone Ministries works with the Navajo Nation and Mountain T.O.P. works with low income families their area. Both of these ministries provide opportunities for us to send people into their communities to serve them in a variety of ways. Each allow us to do home repair, offer women’s ministries, and vacation Bible school for the children of the area.
Mountain T.O.P. (Tennessee Outreach Program)
Mountain T.O.P. is an interdenominational non-profit Christian ministry seeking to alleviate rural poverty in eight counties in the state of Tennessee. They offer minor and major home repairs and children’s programs for families with little to no income. They thrive on a philosophy of partnership that empowers and encourages families to take part in the projects in whatever way feasible. They also operate a summer camp. Heritage teams have helped to serve in the community with home repairs and in the children’s camp. Mountain T.O.P. exists to meet four needs of the family – social, emotional, spiritual and physical.
Cornerstone Ministries, INC, New Mexico
Cornerstone Ministries, led by Pastor Pete Belon, is a resource center for Navajo Christian organizations within the Navajo Nation. Cornerstone Ministries is working with Christian pastors of All Nations to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the Four Corners area and to improve the lives of Native Americans living on the reservation.
During this time of pandemic the Navajo Nation has been hit extremely hard. So hard in fact that the surrounding towns are not letting the Navajo into their towns to shop. That has caused a serious food shortage for the Navajo Nation. Pastor Pete arranged for a semi-trailer of food to be delivered to the Nation and Heritage people were a major contributor enabling them to purchase and transport the food.
